Testimonials

Just a brief note to say how delighted I am with the Melanie (9.6 sqm) Log Cabin I bought from you. Your service and price were superb and Greg and Craig came at 9am on Tuesday and worked right through until 8pm to build it.

They did an excellent job and did not stop all day. Greg advised that I should paint the door and windows a different colour as otherwise the green painted log cabin would be ‘lost’ in the garden and I took their advice. I used two different colours of Butinox No. 3 and the result is absolutely incredible. Many thanks once again. One hugely satisfied customer.

The delivery lorry arrived about eleven o’clock and the driver duly unloaded two very large packages. At eleven thirty my neighbour and I began to investigate these well protected packages.

Just after three o’clock that afternoon, two self satisfied men were enjoying a well deserved beverage whilst admiring the 4.5 by 3.5 meter cabin which was now completed up to roof purling level.

The construction of the cabin was so logical and easy, just like assembling ‘Lego blocks’ only heavier.

We absolutely love our Summer House – we can seat 16 people inside it, it stays warm long after the sun has gone down and it is particularly special as we run a B&B, so we can escape into it, invite all our friends to parties in it and now, we have installed electricity so can have lighting, heat and music as and when needed. It also provides a really big area to store all our garden furniture during the winter months.

We would absolutely recommend you to anyone considering buying one. Many thanks.

Nordic BBQ huts have a rich heritage rooted in the traditions of outdoor living across Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Known locally as grillikota, these cabins were originally designed to make open-fire cooking possible in the harshest climates.

Today, these huts have evolved into versatile garden structures that blend tradition with modern comfort. Whether used for winter grilling, midsummer parties, or a quiet evening with family, they offer a level of atmosphere and warmth that’s hard to match.

Many people also customise their BBQ hut interiors with sheepskins, fairy lights, or rustic dining settings to enhance the cabin-like feel and create a personal retreat just steps from the house.

Another reason BBQ huts have become popular in the UK is their ability to turn unpredictable weather into an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Rain or snow doesn’t mean the end of outdoor entertaining. Instead, it becomes part of the charm. With the right layout, you can even use the hut as a workspace, reading nook, or quiet garden escape when it’s not in use for cooking.

If you're exploring ways to transform your outdoor space, a Palmako BBQ hut is just one of many timber structures to consider. Whether you're looking for a traditional wooden gazebo, a spacious log cabin, a secure garden garage, or a fully enclosed garden room for year-round use, Palmako offers a wide range of Nordic spruce buildings that combine craftsmanship, durability, and timeless design. Each product is crafted for easy assembly and built to withstand the British weather with minimal maintenance.

Many customers praise the great service they've received when purchasing a Palmako product; quick responses, helpful advice, and reliable delivery make the whole experience simple from start to finish. The quality of craftsmanship and the charm of the design lead many to describe the final result as nothing short of amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions: BBQ Huts

What is a Nordic Barbeque Hut?

A Nordic BBQ hut (sometimes referred to as a "grillikota" in Finland) is a small, wooden, hexagonal or octagonal hut traditionally used in Nordic countries for grilling and outdoor gatherings, especially during colder months.

These huts are designed to provide a cozy and functional space for enjoying barbecues year-round, regardless of the weather.

A built-in central barbecue grill or fire pit is the hut's centerpiece, often with a chimney or ventilation system to direct smoke outside. Surrounding seating or table fitted inside allows guests to gather around the grill, making it ideal for hosting a barbecue party.

Can Palmako BBQ Huts Be Used Year-Round?

Yes, barbecue huts, also called grill cabins or BBQ cabins, are designed for year-round use, offering comfort in snowy, rainy, or windy conditions.

They often feature windows and doors that can be opened for ventilation during warmer months or closed to retain warmth in colder weather. Rubber and silicone seals around doors and double glazed windows provide a draught-free interior for enhanced comfort.

Additionally, ground joists are moisture-resistant due to impregnation, ensuring durability and effective natural floor insulation for all seasons.

Why Choose a Nordic Barbecue Hut?

- All-Weather Grilling: Enjoy barbecues and gatherings regardless of the season.

- Social Experience: Encourages communal dining and connection in a unique, enclosed space.

- Aesthetic Appeal: Adds a rustic and charming touch to gardens or areas.

- Durability: Built to endure harsh weather, it is a long-lasting addition to a property.

What's the Difference Between a BBQ Hut and a BBQ Lodge?

The main difference between a BBQ hut and a BBQ lodge lies in their size, features, and intended use.

BBQ Hut: A BBQ hut or BBQ cabin is typically smaller, often hexagonal or octagonal in shape, and designed for intimate gatherings. It includes a central grill or fire pit, seating around the grill, and is perfect for cozy outdoor entertainment with a small group. Grill cabins are ideal for creating a warm and inviting space for year-round barbecues in your garden or outdoor area.

BBQ Lodge: A BBQ lodge or Grill House is a larger structure, offering more space for hosting bigger groups or adding extra features like dining tables or sleeping benches. While it also includes a central grill or fire pit, barbecue lodges are more versatile, making it suitable for larger events, extended stays, or as a multi-purpose space for outdoor entertainment and relaxation.

Both options provide excellent shelter and comfort for enjoying a barbecue party or the fresh air, but a BBQ lodge offers greater flexibility and space for those who need it.

What Roof Covering Would You Recommend?

Black roof shingles are a popular and highly recommended choice. They come in individual sheets and are nailed to the roof, providing a more refined and durable finish. Shingles are especially suited for more expensive or premium models, as they enhance the overall aesthetic and complement the design better than traditional roofing felt.

Shingles are available as an optional extra, making it easy to upgrade your roof covering for a long-lasting and visually appealing solution.
