Testimonials

Just a brief note to say how delighted I am with the Melanie (9.6 sqm) Log Cabin I bought from you. Your service and price were superb and Greg and Craig came at 9am on Tuesday and worked right through until 8pm to build it.

They did an excellent job and did not stop all day. Greg advised that I should paint the door and windows a different colour as otherwise the green painted log cabin would be ‘lost’ in the garden and I took their advice. I used two different colours of Butinox No. 3 and the result is absolutely incredible. Many thanks once again. One hugely satisfied customer.

Sandy

The delivery lorry arrived about eleven o’clock and the driver duly unloaded two very large packages. At eleven thirty my neighbour and I began to investigate these well protected packages.

Just after three o’clock that afternoon, two self satisfied men were enjoying a well deserved beverage whilst admiring the 4.5 by 3.5 meter cabin which was now completed up to roof purling level.

The construction of the cabin was so logical and easy, just like assembling ‘Lego blocks’ only heavier.

We absolutely love our Summer House – we can seat 16 people inside it, it stays warm long after the sun has gone down and it is particularly special as we run a B&B, so we can escape into it, invite all our friends to parties in it and now, we have installed electricity so can have lighting, heat and music as and when needed. It also provides a really big area to store all our garden furniture during the winter months.

We would absolutely recommend you to anyone considering buying one. Many thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for an outdoor sauna in the UK?

In most cases, planning permission is not required if the outdoor sauna is under 2.5m tall, occupies less than 50% of your garden space, and is for personal use. Still, we recommend checking with your local planning authority, especially if you live in a conservation area or a listed building.

What’s the difference between a wood-burning and an electric heater sauna?

A wood-burning sauna offers a more traditional sauna experience, with the crackle of a fire and the natural scent of timber, creating an authentic sauna experience. It’s ideal if you're looking for a more immersive setup in a rural or secluded setting. A wood burner requires firewood, proper ventilation, and a chimney installation.

An electric heater, on the other hand, is easier to control, quicker to heat, and well-suited to regular home use. It’s a practical option for a home sauna, particularly in residential gardens where convenience and minimal effort are important.

We offer two high-quality electric heater models:

Narvi NM Sauna Heater 6kW (incl. Stones):
Designed for durability and ease of use, this heater features a large stone compartment for generous steam and flexible installation with a switch that can be mounted on either side.

HUUM DROP Electric Sauna Heater:
A Red Dot award–winning heater inspired by the shape of a water droplet. Though compact, it holds up to 55 kg of stones — more than many wood-burning models — and provides gentle, long-lasting steam.

What is the typical installation process like?

Our sauna cabins arrive flat-packed with clear instructions and a step-by-step guide to support straightforward assembly. With two people and basic tools, most models can be assembled in 1–2 days. If you’d rather not DIY, we can arrange to have your sauna installed by a professional team.

What warranty comes with Palmako saunas?

All our outdoor saunas come with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty applies to the timber structure, which is expertly crafted for long-term outdoor use, and ensures peace of mind when investing in a high-quality sauna.

The warranty does not cover general wear and tear, weather-related damage, or issues resulting from improper installation or lack of treatment.

For full details, please refer to Palmako's warranty policy or contact our support team.

Do you offer support and delivery across the UK?

Yes. Palmako UK offers free delivery to most addresses in mainland UK. Delivery timeframes vary depending on whether the sauna is in stock or made to order; most arrive within 2 to 6 weeks.

If you're located in a remote postcode, a small surcharge may apply, which will be clearly shown at checkout. Our UK-based support team is available to assist with pre-purchase questions, after-sales support, and guidance during the installation process. We aim to provide excellent service throughout.

Are there any health benefits to using a sauna?

Yes. Regular sauna bathing offers several well-documented health benefits. As the sauna heats your body, blood vessels dilate and circulation improves, which can help relieve muscle tension, reduce joint stiffness, and support faster recovery after physical activity.  Sweating also helps open pores, supporting skin health and natural detoxification.

Using a sauna may promote relaxation by lowering cortisol levels and stimulating endorphin release, which can help reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and support mental well-being over time. Some studies even suggest that regular sauna sessions may reduce the risk of cardiovascular issues and improve immune system function.

Sauna use can also support weight loss efforts indirectly by increasing heart rate and calorie expenditure during sessions, similar to light cardiovascular activity. While it is not a substitute for exercise, regular sauna use may complement an active lifestyle when combined with healthy habits.

What’s the difference between a hot tub and a sauna?

A hot tub uses heated water and jets to provide hydrotherapy and muscle relaxation. It’s typically used for soaking, often outdoors, and maintained with water treatments. In contrast, a sauna room uses dry heat, either from a wood burner or an electric heater, to warm the air and, in turn, your body.

Both offer health and stress-relief benefits, but a sauna provides a more intense, heat-based therapy that’s ideal for your own backyard or garden wellness setup.

What is the rule of 200 in a sauna?

The “rule of 200” is a general sauna guideline suggesting that the temperature (°C) plus humidity (%) should not exceed 200. For example, a sauna at 80°C with around 20% humidity would sit within this range. While not a strict rule, it’s commonly referenced to help users balance heat and steam for a comfortable and enjoyable sauna session, especially for those new to sauna use.

Are outdoor saunas expensive to run?

Running costs depend on the type of heater you choose and how often you use the sauna. Electric heaters are typically more predictable and economical for regular sauna use, while wood-burning stoves depend on firewood availability and cost. For most users, occasional to regular sauna sessions result in modest ongoing costs, particularly when the sauna is preheated efficiently and used for sensible sessions.

How much does it cost to install a sauna in the garden in the UK?

The total cost of installing a garden sauna in the UK varies based on the sauna model, base preparation, heater choice, and whether you opt for professional installation. Outdoor sauna kits generally range from around £2,000 to £9,000, depending on size and design. Additional costs may include a solid foundation, heater purchase, electrical connection, flue installation, and optional professional assembly.

For most sauna users, choosing a flat-pack kit can significantly reduce overall costs compared to a fully bespoke design, while still offering a high-quality outdoor sauna experience

How do outdoor saunas perform in different weather conditions?

Palmako saunas are designed for outdoor space use across the seasons. Their timber structure supports heat retention, and many owners choose to add roof insulation to improve efficiency and comfort. Ventilation is also important, as controlled airflow allows fresh air circulation while maintaining sauna temperature, helping create a comfortable and balanced sauna environment.
