Available in a range of sizes, these timber buildings can be finished in any paint colour and fitted with your choice of roof cover, such as felt shingles or a rubber roof. With straightforward assembly, strong materials, and thoughtful details, a Palmako corner summer house is a stylish, reliable addition to any garden.

Testimonials

Just a brief note to say how delighted I am with the Melanie (9.6 sqm) Log Cabin I bought from you. Your service and price were superb and Greg and Craig came at 9am on Tuesday and worked right through until 8pm to build it.

They did an excellent job and did not stop all day. Greg advised that I should paint the door and windows a different colour as otherwise the green painted log cabin would be ‘lost’ in the garden and I took their advice. I used two different colours of Butinox No. 3 and the result is absolutely incredible. Many thanks once again. One hugely satisfied customer.

The delivery lorry arrived about eleven o’clock and the driver duly unloaded two very large packages. At eleven thirty my neighbour and I began to investigate these well protected packages.

Just after three o’clock that afternoon, two self satisfied men were enjoying a well deserved beverage whilst admiring the 4.5 by 3.5 meter cabin which was now completed up to roof purling level.

The construction of the cabin was so logical and easy, just like assembling ‘Lego blocks’ only heavier.

We absolutely love our Summer House – we can seat 16 people inside it, it stays warm long after the sun has gone down and it is particularly special as we run a B&B, so we can escape into it, invite all our friends to parties in it and now, we have installed electricity so can have lighting, heat and music as and when needed. It also provides a really big area to store all our garden furniture during the winter months.

We would absolutely recommend you to anyone considering buying one. Many thanks.

Does Palmako offer an installation service?

Yes. Palmako offers an optional installation service for most summer houses at an additional cost. Professional installers can assemble your building on site, including fitting doors, windows, and roof coverings. To arrange installation, check the product details. If you prefer, you can also build the summer house yourself using the included instructions.

Do I need professional help to build a summerhouse?

Most Palmako corner summerhouses are designed for straightforward self-assembly. The kits come with detailed step-by-step instructions and all necessary fittings. Basic DIY skills and common tools are usually enough to complete the build safely. For larger models or if you prefer not to assemble it yourself, professional installation is available.

Do Palmako summer houses come dip-treated?

No, Palmako corner summerhouses are not dip-treated as standard. However, you can add dip treatment as an optional extra before delivery to protect the timber against fungi, insects, and moisture.

Do I need planning permission for a corner summer house?

It depends on the size, height, and where you live. Planning permission requirements for summer houses and log cabins depend on several factors, such as height restrictions, the building's size, purpose, and location within your property.

Local regulations may also vary, especially for properties in conservation areas, near listed buildings, or on designated land.

To ensure compliance with current planning and building regulations, we recommend consulting your Local Planning Authority before starting your project.

How can I build a summerhouse on a budget?

The most affordable way to build a new summer house is to choose a flat-pack log cabin kit and assemble it yourself on a simple timber or concrete base. Selecting a smaller model with standard window glazing and untreated or dip-treated wood can help reduce costs while still providing a natural product with great quality and structural integrity.

What is the difference between a shed and a summerhouse?

A shed is a simple garden building used mainly for storing tools, equipment, or bikes. In contrast, a summerhouse is designed as a more comfortable space for relaxing, working, or entertaining. Summerhouses often have large windows, glazed doors, and options for insulation and decorative finishes.

Does a summerhouse need a base?

Yes, a summerhouse always needs a solid, level base. Suitable base options include:

- Concrete slabs
- Timber frames
- Paving slabs

A proper base prevents damp, keeps the building stable, and helps extend its lifespan.

Can you use a summerhouse as a bedroom?

While most summerhouses aren’t designed for overnight accommodation, you can convert one into a bedroom by adding insulation, heating, secure doors, and possibly planning approval.

How can I extend the life of my garden building?

To keep your garden building in great condition for many years, follow these tips:

- Apply a high-quality preservative or wood treatment regularly to protect against moisture, fungal growth, and insects.

- If your building isn’t pressure-treated, consider adding a suitable treatment before assembly.

- Repaint or stain the exterior in your chosen paint colour every few years to maintain weather resistance.

- Ensure the building is situated on a firm and level foundation to prevent water ingress and structural damage.

- Keep the roof covering, such as felt shingles or a rubber roof, in good condition and replace it if it shows signs of wear.

- Allow for natural ventilation to reduce condensation and mould.

With regular care, a high-quality timber summerhouse can stay an attractive and functional outdoor space year-round.
