44mm Log Cabins

Our log cabins offer a solid and versatile solution for creating functional garden spaces that can be used throughout the year. The 44mm wall thickness provides increased structural stability and improved thermal performance compared to lighter garden buildings, making these cabins suitable for use as garden offices, summer houses, studios, guest rooms or leisure spaces.

All cabins in this range are built from slow-grown Nordic spruce, carefully quality-graded for strength and consistency. The timber is supplied untreated, allowing you to apply your preferred preservative or paint based on your environment and maintenance requirements. Many models are available with double-glazed doors or windows, helping to improve comfort when used regularly.

The range includes a wide variety of sizes, layouts and roof styles, from compact summer houses to larger multi-room garden buildings. Each cabin is supplied as a precision-cut flat-pack kit with detailed assembly instructions, and professional installation services are available separately.

Most models include free mainland UK delivery and are backed by a 5-year structural component warranty (subject to correct installation and treatment).

Testimonials

Just a brief note to say how delighted I am with the Melanie (9.6 sqm) Log Cabin I bought from you. Your service and price were superb and Greg and Craig came at 9am on Tuesday and worked right through until 8pm to build it.

They did an excellent job and did not stop all day. Greg advised that I should paint the door and windows a different colour as otherwise the green painted log cabin would be ‘lost’ in the garden and I took their advice. I used two different colours of Butinox No. 3 and the result is absolutely incredible. Many thanks once again. One hugely satisfied customer.

Sandy

The delivery lorry arrived about eleven o’clock and the driver duly unloaded two very large packages. At eleven thirty my neighbour and I began to investigate these well protected packages.

Just after three o’clock that afternoon, two self satisfied men were enjoying a well deserved beverage whilst admiring the 4.5 by 3.5 meter cabin which was now completed up to roof purling level.

The construction of the cabin was so logical and easy, just like assembling ‘Lego blocks’ only heavier.

We absolutely love our Summer House – we can seat 16 people inside it, it stays warm long after the sun has gone down and it is particularly special as we run a B&B, so we can escape into it, invite all our friends to parties in it and now, we have installed electricity so can have lighting, heat and music as and when needed. It also provides a really big area to store all our garden furniture during the winter months.

We would absolutely recommend you to anyone considering buying one. Many thanks.

FAQ

Do you offer delivery and installation services?

We happily offer free delivery to mainland areas, and most items arrive within about 6 weeks.

If you'd prefer not to tackle the log cabin construction on your own, we also have a professional installation team available for most of our products for an additional cost. They’ll take care of everything for a smooth, hassle-free setup! Just keep in mind that installation isn't included with the standard delivery.

Can I install electricity and plumbing in my log cabin?

Yes, you can definitely install electricity in your log cabin! Just make sure it's done by a qualified and approved electrician to meet safety standards and local building regulations.

Unfortunately, Palmako doesn't offer electrical installation services, so you’ll need to arrange that separately. We highly recommend reaching out to a certified electrician with experience working on outdoor garden buildings to ensure the wiring, waterproofing, and insulation are all set for year-round use.

Can I use a 44mm log cabin as a garden office or guest room?

Absolutely! It’s the perfect solution for creating a home office, a cozy garden room, or even a welcoming guest accommodation. The added thickness of the wall logs provides excellent insulation, helping maintain warmth and comfort for year-round use. Many of our models are designed with large glazed areas to allow plenty of natural light, improving overall usability.

With the right floor insulation and heating, your wooden cabin can easily transform into the perfect space to work or relax. Unlike other garden buildings, a 44mm log cabin offers a more robust and durable option with lasting appeal and rustic charm.

Do your log cabins come with a roof covering?

Our log cabins don’t come with a roof covering as standard, so you can pick the best option that suits your needs. We do offer a variety of roof coverings that you can add to your order for an extra cost.

Choosing the right one is important for durability and weather resistance, as it helps prevent leaks and reduces wind penetration, keeping your cabin warm and dry. If you're unsure which option to go for, contact us– our team is happy to answer any questions you may have and help you find the best solution for your cabin!

Do all log cabin models come with double doors?

Not all of our log cabin models come with double doors, but many do for added convenience, better access, and improved ventilation. Your cabin door plays a big role in both functionality and style, so if double doors are a priority, be sure to check the specifications of each model.

And if you need a hand, our team is always happy to help!

Is a 44mm log cabin warm?

Yes, a 44mm log cabin offers good natural insulation compared to thinner garden buildings. The solid timber wall logs, combined with tongue-and-groove construction, create a tight seal between logs, improving thermal performance. When paired with double glazing, floor insulation and appropriate heating, the cabin can remain comfortable throughout the year.

What is the maximum size for a log cabin without planning permission in the UK?

This depends on the cabin’s height, location and placement within your garden. In many cases, log cabins fall under permitted development, but restrictions apply near boundaries, on designated land, or if height limits are exceeded. Always check with your local planning authority before purchasing.

What is a good size for a log cabin?

A good size depends on how you plan to use the space. Smaller cabins of around 7–10 m² are well suited for hobbies, light storage or occasional use. Cabins in the 10–15 m² range are often chosen for garden offices or creative studios, while larger 44mm log cabins of 15–25 m² or more provide enough space for guest rooms, multi-purpose use or regular year-round occupancy. The added wall thickness makes 44mm cabins a popular choice where comfort and insulation are important.

How do I insulate a 44mm log cabin?

Additional insulation can be added to the floor, roof and walls using suitable insulation materials, depending on how the cabin will be used. Many customers choose to insulate the floor and roof as a priority, as this helps reduce heat loss and improve comfort. Wall insulation may also be added internally if the cabin is used frequently, such as a garden office or guest room. Insulation is typically installed during or after assembly and tailored to individual requirements.

What is the lifespan of a log cabin?

With correct installation, regular timber treatment and ongoing maintenance, a high-quality log cabin can last several decades. Palmako cabins are crafted from slow-grown Nordic spruce and manufactured to withstand outdoor elements, offering long-term protection and structural reliability.

How are Palmako 44mm log cabins constructed?

Palmako 44mm log cabins are constructed using precision-cut interlocking wall logs made from slow-grown Nordic spruce, which is quality-graded for strength and consistency. The tongue and groove construction allows the wall logs to fit tightly together, helping create a stable structure with improved resistance to wind and weather.

The logs are stacked and fixed according to the cabin’s design, forming solid timber walls that contribute to durability and long-term outdoor performance. Roof and floor components are also supplied as precision-cut elements, ensuring accurate assembly when installed on a level foundation.

All cabins are delivered as flat-pack kits with pre-cut components and detailed assembly instructions. As the timber is supplied untreated, applying an appropriate wood preservative after delivery is essential to protect the structure and maintain its condition over time.
