Conservatories

A well-designed conservatory should feel like a natural extension of your home, not just an addition to it. Palmako conservatories combine generous glazing with durable timber construction, creating light-filled spaces that bring your garden closer to home.

Manufactured from sustainably sourced FSC-certified Nordic spruce, each conservatory benefits from timber known for its dense grain structure and long-term stability. Combined with robust post-and-beam construction, this helps create a strong, reliable structure that's built to withstand everyday use and changing weather conditions in the UK.

A choice of sizes, layouts, glazing options and finishes makes it easy to find a conservatory that complements your property. Models are supplied as complete kits with pre-cut components for a straightforward installation process.

With more than 25 years of experience and over 500,000 customers across Europe, Palmako is trusted for quality timber buildings that stand the test of time. Every conservatory is backed by a 5-year warranty for added peace of mind.

Testimonials

Just a brief note to say how delighted I am with the Melanie (9.6 sqm) Log Cabin I bought from you. Your service and price were superb and Greg and Craig came at 9am on Tuesday and worked right through until 8pm to build it.

They did an excellent job and did not stop all day. Greg advised that I should paint the door and windows a different colour as otherwise the green painted log cabin would be ‘lost’ in the garden and I took their advice. I used two different colours of Butinox No. 3 and the result is absolutely incredible. Many thanks once again. One hugely satisfied customer.

The delivery lorry arrived about eleven o’clock and the driver duly unloaded two very large packages. At eleven thirty my neighbour and I began to investigate these well protected packages.

Just after three o’clock that afternoon, two self satisfied men were enjoying a well deserved beverage whilst admiring the 4.5 by 3.5 meter cabin which was now completed up to roof purling level.

The construction of the cabin was so logical and easy, just like assembling ‘Lego blocks’ only heavier.

We absolutely love our Summer House – we can seat 16 people inside it, it stays warm long after the sun has gone down and it is particularly special as we run a B&B, so we can escape into it, invite all our friends to parties in it and now, we have installed electricity so can have lighting, heat and music as and when needed. It also provides a really big area to store all our garden furniture during the winter months.

We would absolutely recommend you to anyone considering buying one. Many thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a conservatory?

In many cases, conservatories can be built under permitted development rights, meaning you may not need planning permission. However, this depends on several factors, including the size and location of the structure, how much of your property has already been extended, and whether your home is located in a protected area.

Additional rules may apply to a detached conservatory, particularly if it is positioned close to a boundary or exceeds certain size limits. In some situations, prior approval or a formal planning application may be required.

Local regulations may also vary, so we recommend checking with your local planning authority before proceeding.

What's the difference between an attached and detached conservatory?

An attached conservatory is connected directly to your home, creating seamless access to extra living space and extending an existing room. A detached conservatory, on the other hand, stands independently within the garden and can offer a quieter setting away from the main house.

While attached designs often feel like a natural extension of the home, detached models can provide a versatile garden room that's separate from everyday household activity.

Can a conservatory be used all year round?

Yes, a conservatory can be enjoyed year-round when it is built with the right specifications. Factors such as glazing, ventilation and overall energy efficiency all play an important role in maintaining a comfortable environment throughout the seasons.

Many Palmako conservatories feature large glazed areas that maximise natural light, helping to create bright, welcoming interiors. Choosing the right conservatory roof can further improve comfort, making the space more enjoyable during both warmer and cooler months.

Is a timber conservatory roof better than a glass conservatory roof?

For many homeowners, a timber conservatory roof offers practical advantages over a fully glazed alternative. While glass roofs maximise overhead sunlight, they can also contribute to overheating in summer, increased heat loss during colder months and glare throughout the day. A timber roof helps create a more balanced indoor environment while providing greater privacy and improved insulation potential.

Timber roof structures can also reduce noise from heavy rain and create a space that's comfortable to use in a wider range of weather conditions. As a result, many homeowners find that a timber conservatory functions more like an extension of the home rather than a purely seasonal space.

Palmako conservatories are constructed from high-quality Nordic spruce, a slow-grown timber valued for its strength, stability and durability. Combined with robust timber construction, this creates a conservatory designed for long-term performance as well as visual appeal.

Can I build a conservatory myself?

Many Palmako conservatories are supplied as complete kits with pre-cut components and detailed assembly instructions, making them suitable for confident DIY enthusiasts. The precision-cut timber elements are designed to fit together accurately, creating a straightforward assembly process that many customers compare to building with large Lego-style pieces.

For some customers, self-build can be a more cost-effective option than arranging professional installation. However, larger models may require additional time or assistance during assembly.

What is included in a Palmako conservatory kit?

Palmako conservatory kits are supplied with pre-cut timber components and the essential materials required for assembly. Depending on the model, this typically includes the structural framework, glazing, fixings and detailed installation instructions.

Each product page provides a full breakdown of what's included, so it's easy to check the specification before purchasing. Details relating to the glass, timber components, floor options and roof construction can all be found within the individual product information.

What size conservatory should I choose?

The best size depends on your available floor space, how you plan to use the conservatory and the layout of your property. A compact design may be ideal for creating a quiet retreat, while larger models can provide additional internal space for entertaining, relaxing or everyday use.

It's also worth considering the right layout for your home and garden. A conservatory should feel proportionate to the surrounding area and provide enough room to accommodate your needs, whether that's creating a comfortable space for the whole family or simply enjoying a brighter connection to the outdoors.

Do your conservatories come with double glazing?

Many Palmako conservatories are available with a choice of glazing options, including double glazing on selected models. This can help improve energy efficiency and contribute to a more comfortable environment throughout the year.

Double glazing may also help reduce outside noise and improve temperature retention, making the conservatory more enjoyable to use in different weather conditions. Individual product pages provide full details of the available glazing specifications for each model.

Is it worth repairing an existing conservatory?

Not always. While repairing an existing conservatory may seem like the cheaper option, major upgrades such as replacing glazing, repairing structural damage or installing a new roof can quickly become expensive. In some cases, homeowners are surprised to find that the cost of extensive repairs can approach the price of a new conservatory.

Before investing heavily in upgrades, it's worth comparing repair costs against a complete replacement. Palmako offers a range of conservatories manufactured from high-quality Nordic spruce, giving homeowners the opportunity to start fresh with modern materials, a 5-year warranty and a design tailored to their current needs.

What conservatory style is best for my home?

The answer often comes down to how much space you have and the overall character of your property. For example, an Edwardian conservatory is popular because its square shape makes it easy to furnish and maximises usable floor space. A Victorian conservatory tends to feel more decorative, making it a popular choice for period homes and traditional properties.

If you're looking for a more contemporary design, a lean-to conservatory offers clean lines and a simple profile that works particularly well on modern homes and bungalows. A gable-end conservatory creates a stronger sense of height and openness thanks to its distinctive front elevation, while P-shaped conservatories are often chosen for larger properties where separate seating and dining areas are required.

Rather than focusing solely on appearance, it's worth considering how you'll use the space day to day. The best conservatory style is usually the one that complements both your home and your lifestyle.

What warranty and delivery options do Palmako conservatories include?

Palmako conservatories are backed by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty, providing added reassurance on the quality and durability of the structure. To maintain warranty coverage, it's important to follow the recommended installation, treatment and maintenance guidance supplied with your conservatory.

Palmako also offers free UK mainland delivery with crane offloading included, helping to ensure large conservatory kits are unloaded safely and efficiently. If you're not ready to receive your conservatory straight away, you can request a future delivery date during checkout, allowing you time to prepare the site or complete other work before installation. Conservatories are delivered as complete flat-pack kits with pre-cut components for straightforward assembly.

What other garden buildings does Palmako offer?

In addition to conservatories, Palmako offers a wide range of timber garden buildings, including garden rooms, log cabins, gazebos, pavilions and more. Whether you're looking for a dedicated workspace, extra accommodation or a place to relax and enjoy your garden, there are options to suit a variety of spaces and requirements.
