Enhancing Your Palmako Cabin: Floor and Roof Insulation

At Palmako, we aim to make your cabin as comfortable and efficient as possible. One way to achieve this is through the optional extras of floor and roof insulation. Here’s how you can enhance your cabin with these features.

Floor Insulation

  1. Types of Insulation:

    • Rigid Insulation: Offers high thermal resistance and is great for maintaining a stable temperature.
    • Flexible Glass Wool: Easier to install and provides excellent insulation properties.
  2. Installation Process:

    • Insert the insulation between the subframe joists. This ensures the cabin floor is well-insulated and energy-efficient.
  3. Fitting Floorboards:

    • When fitting the floorboards, leave a 5mm gap around the perimeter. This gap allows for natural expansion and contraction of the wood.
    • These gaps will be covered by beading, which is supplied in your pack, ensuring a neat and professional finish.

Roof Insulation

  1. Similar to Floor Insulation:
    • Like the floorboards, roof boards should also have room to expand. Avoid tightly compressing them during installation.

Finishing Touches

  1. Applying an Interior Varnish:
    • Once the floorboards are installed, we advise applying an interior varnish. This not only enhances the appearance but also adds a protective layer to the wood, extending its lifespan.

By following these steps, you can significantly improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your Palmako cabin. Insulating both the floor and roof will help maintain a pleasant temperature inside, making your cabin a cozy retreat all year round.
